Hilarious photo-shopping error on cover of April "Pilot" mag.
We appear to have the one-off prototype "Steiglitz" with a semi-retracting nosewheel, continuously spun by the exhaust for added gyro effects.

That's fair, what next, my mistake!
Lovely looking aircraft just the same.
German language does confuse me when ie in a word is pronounced "e" and ei is pronounced "i" (i think).
At least it's only a forum and not a physical print run of thousands. I wonder how late in the distribution process they had the "oh no" moment?

BTW: I have been subscribing to Pilot for over twenty years, it still is one of the best GA magazines. Better than all comparable magazines here in Germany anyway!
It's interesting to look at the format within it however. Isn't it perhaps rather more "Todays Pilot" than "Pilot, regardless of what it says on the cover?
I always liked both, but am sorry to see one less magazine on the high street. I think that I had a slight preference for TP because it tended to be a bit less pompous in the editorial style - but I think that maybe Dave Unwin's involvement will cure them of that one small fault.

Stieglitz - thistle finch = UK Goldfinch a very pretty little bird which sometimes visits my birdfeeding station. 
They are very partial to the seeds of the thistle which is usually sold as Niger or Nyger seed.

German pronunciation is easy, ie is pronounced E and ei is pronounced I simples.
Oh and by the way a large beer container is NOT a Stein it's a krug (unless you are in Bavaria in which case it's called a maas, 1 litre), if you ask for a stein in Germany you'll get a small rock with no beer in it

Rarely buy Pilot anymore, just happened to have bought this month's edition. Didn't notice the mistake though. My German is nicht das gut.
On the point of it merging with Today's pilot, call me cynical but frankly the TP aspect of it will soon disappear. I'm not overly familiar with the way the publishing world works. But it seems to me that magazines often buy ailing titles, merge them with their own with a little puff describing how the merger will improve both. In reality it's just an attempt to draw in some of the readers from the failed title. No doubt an appropriate amount of money changed hands. The merged title soon vanishes forever.
