JAR PPL(A) Flying in Canada
Hi all,
Tried searching this forum for a few details but nothing jumping out at me.
I have a JAR PPL(A) SEP(Land) and I may be placed in Canada for a few months for work purposes.
Can anyone give me some advice as to what I need to do to be able to fly there? Do I have to apply for a 'ticket' in a similar manner to the FAA equivalent needed to fly in the US?
Any insight at all would be a great help.

Foreign Applicants - Transport Canada has the basic information.
Look for Foreign Licence Validation Certificate (FLVC).
The Transport Canada website is not well organised -- Google site: tc.gc.ca search terms works well.

I flew in Canada last year with my JAA PPL. I phoned Transport Canada to sort out the FLVC - they wanted a copy of my passport, medical, and licence and were happy with them faxed through. It took about 3 weeks for the FLVC paperwork to arrive.
The company I flew with [Lake Country Airways: Lake Country Airways: floatplane training, endorsements, float charters and rentals - following a recommendation from Pilot-DAR on here] checked the paperwork and allowed me to fly their wheeled C172 solo after a check-ride.
I also did a float-plane introductory flight, which was great fun.

I have in the past turned up at the Transport Canada district office in Hamilton without an appointment but with my passport, licence and medical. Twenty minutes later walked out with a Canadian validation.
