Since we got rid of our strike arm in the RNZAF we now only have old huey's with an M-60 if you can fly above 120 knts, they won't catch you :-)
Ok maybe a mini gun on one of our C130's... when they are airworthy :-) it'd still take a good hour to scrmable anything :-)

I seem to recall a private aircraft flying into D.C. restricted airspace not too long ago. They were all but ready to shoot it down and it made international news.

The Airtourers sure are nice (CT4-B if you are military) very aerobatic!
I have had the privilege of flying both the military and a private example (theres one at the MAC) not solo though!
And one of our members here has a share in a sexy example in Tauranga, this is not the aircraft in question but its the same scheme

No weapons through, you can't even open the canopy to take a pot shot!

A friend of mine flew his Cessna 185 through restricted airspace - the Primrose Lake Air Weapons Range in Alberta.
He was intercepted by two F-18s. However, he wasn't charged and they invited him for dinner at the Cold Lake base.

Yes, you're right. He said his airspeed was about 150 kts. and the F-18s were barely able to stay off to the side of his wings. I asked him why he didn't throttle back but he said he was afraid they might get a little annoyed and buzz him. In any case he landed at the Cold Lake airbase and pulled the dumb pilot trick: "Gee, a guy can't fly anywhere around here that isn't restricted airspace..." Apparently it worked, and like I said, they invited him for dinner. I might add that he knew exactly what he was doing and was taking a shortcut through the restricted area.
