Not a crash, just a puncture. Then the captain put the nosewheel off the runway.

...beautiful: 1245mtr runway, touched down with 745mtrs remaining at 32 kts too fast with a 13kt tailwind.
Locked the wheels and burst both main tyres. Then ran off the end and damaged the nosewheel.
I wonder what the CVR would have revealed if there had been one!!

Thanks for your reply Wrecker, I was curious as to the type of aircraft would have been used for instruction during the late 40's early 50's, I guess we can rule out the Mosquito!
