Factory exchange engine about £13000 or UK engine shop rebuild about £8000 up plus absolute minimum for a star annual £2000.Really how long is a piece of string so much is condition dependant and the standards you and your engineer set.Good luck but remember there is no such thing as cheap flying!!.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS ALL.I USED TO OWN ONE OF THESE.
ORIGINAL ENGINE WAS O-240 CONTI,THE PARTS FOR THIS ENGINE ARE HARD TO SOURCE, SO MANY OF THESE AIRCRAFT ARE FITTED WITH THE LESS POWERFULL O-200.
THE PROP WILL HAVE TO BE CHANGED IF YOU GO DOWN THIS ROAD.ALSO IF THE ENGINE IS TIME X THEN JUST RUN IT ON CONDITION AS LONG AS COMPRESSIONS ARE OK.THE CYLINDERS FROM A CESSENA 337 ARE THE SAME.THE STARTERS ARE A PROBLEM AREA FOR THESE ENGINES AS WELL.IT IS NOT JUST A MATTER OF CHANGING THE ENG YOU WILL HAVE TO CHANGE HOSES & MOUNTS AS WELL.IF IT WAS USED FOR AERO,S THEN THE RIVETS ON THE TAIL HAVE A TENDANCY TO WORK LOOSE AS WELL EVEN THOUGH THE SKINS ARE THICKER ON THE AREOBAT.£10K FOR 0-200 £15OO FOR HOSES MOUNTS & TO FIT.MINIMUM £2K FOR ANNUAL.CAN DO A SURVEY FOR YOU IF YOU WANT.SEND ME AN EMAIL & ILL GIVE YOU A CALL [email protected]

Roller Stamp has a point. Why change the engine if the compressions are good and the oil filter is clean? Get an engine oil analysis done. This should give you a very good idea of which parts of the engine are worn.
I agree on the £2000 absolute minimum for the C of A (sorry * Annual). All of mine were that or higher on an 0-200 powered Aerobat.

As you have gathered the anserw is not simple. However it is possible to get ALL the work done by properly licenced expert engineers at a reasonable cost. E-mail me and will give you the details of the engineers that look after my aircraft. Very, very good and UNDERSTAND a private owners needs. Good luck
