Post Best place to go for aerobatics in the south

Please could someone point me in the direction of a decent aerobatic aircraft and instructor in the south of the Uk.

I would like to try a Pitts or Cap that sort of thing.......

Try Alan Cassidy at White Waltham. Ring ops on 01628 823272 and I'm sure they will pass on a contact number.

If near Goodwood, try Vectair with the Robin, not as hot as a Cap or a Pitts but a lot more reasonably priced and still good for the basics.

As mentioned above, Alan Cassidy instructs at Waltham on a Pitts. There's also a Cap 10b for aeros instruction at Waltham: contact Ian Marshall or Chris Thompson through Waltham Ops. There's a Slingsby at Oxford, but I don't know who teaches on it.

A little further afield perhaps, but Dawn Patrol at Dunkeswell operate Stampes and Extra 300's for aerobatic training - worth looking them up.

Thumbs up

The Slingsby mensioned above at Oxford is operated by Pilot Flight Training (PFT). They have bases at Hinton, Oxford, Turweston and Wellesborne. The T-67s are normally at Welles and Oxford. Aeros rate is £105ph dual.
They also have a Pitts at Hinton for when you get on to the advanced stuff.
Check out their website: http://www.pilotflighttraining.co.uk/

Skysport have a Bulldog at North Weald and good aeros instructors available. Ads in the usual mags, or website. Also various Jet Provost syndicates, some offering training. Tiger Moths at Cambridge for leisurely aeros if strakes fitted. I've seen a red Pitts making instructional sorties from Duxford but not sure if it lives there or who runs it.

There is at least one Yak 52 and one Bucker Jungmann at Andrewsfield, but I assume that these are private aircraft and so far as I know not available for instruction.

Thanks for the info, can you recommend an instructor for the Bulldog? and is it nice to fly?

If anyone else has any info it would be very gratefully recieved.

Cheers.

For aerobatic instruction on the Skysport Bulldog I recommend Chris Thompson. It is a very pleasant aircraft to fly. Chunky, overbuilt, and heavy it may be (glides like a breeze block) but it has a reasonable climb rate, delightful punchy handling, good visibility in most directions, and a girt big rudder for when you feel the need to land it in that evil gusty crosswind which is keeping everyone else on the ground.

Check the instructors' forum for old threads about Bulldog flying, esp spinning.
