Post Night rating

Hello,

Do you need to take the night rating 'course' if you already hold an IMC (issued on the basis of a foreign IR)? I seem to remember reading somewhere that holders of IR/IMC don't need to take a NR...or maybe I just dreamt it!

cheers

There is no such thing as a night rating any more, only a night qualification. If you have a foreign IR you presumably have a foreign night qualification which should also be convertable. The IMC rating does not give you night privileges.

I've got an FAA licence issued on the basis of my JAR PPL, with no Night qual....Although I can fly IFR I cannot fly at night as my JAR licence prohibits it! (even though I have probably flown 20 hrs at night during my IR training)
