Red face CAA PPL (A) restrictions

Hi
I am currently enquiring with FTC in George SA to undertake my PPL in South Africa. In order to convert from a South African PPL to a UK PPL requires a few examinations which is acceptable. Additionally they have also stated that I have to complete 100hrs as a pilot before a UK PPL(A) is issued. I find this totally unacceptable and I feel that the CAA are discriminating against me trying to gain a PPL outwith the UK. Can anyone provide me with comments or advice?.
Regards Tommy

You do not need 100 hours to convert it, however, if you have 100 hours you will have less exams to take. The 100 hours is a JAA requirement for non JAA State licence conversion. Why convert anyway, you can fly in UK on a SA PPL.

It sounds as if you have already spoken to them but have a look on the CAA SRG website. Try this link below:

SRG Licensing

I don't know whether there is a spicific document regarding your issue but hopefully this will be of some help. My recent experience of SRG is "No, now what's your question"!

But according to http://www.srg.caa.co.uk/documents/s...provedftos.pdf (page 5) Flight Training College of Africa are able to conduct training for JAA PPL (A) so why would you go for a SA licence?
