Post Use of power in spin recovery

In the current issue of Pilot, Alan Cassidy argues strongly that, in some circumstances, lives could be saved if power was used in spin recovery, to assist in rudder effectiveness. This apparently goes against traditional training.. .. .He understands that this could be controversial but says that it should be discussed in flying club bars. . .. .As I am thinking of taking some modest aerobatic training I would like to know more about this and I cannot think of a better forum for discussion than this one.
