Thumbs up Recommendations in the San Fransico Area?

Hey all,. .. .Will shortly be spending a few weeks in Berkeley and felt like getting some flying done. A mate of mine who used to live out there suggested either Concord (KCCR) or Livermore (KLVR) or even San Jose (KSJC) to get some hours in.. .. .My question to you fine people is... have any of you any personal experiences flying thereabouts? Do you recommend I use a particular school/club? Do I need anything apart from a Temporary Airman's certificate, BFR and brushup on odd RT?. .. .Stuart

Just watch out for the weather which can be a bit unpredictable - fog can roll in and out very quickly and there is alot of high terrain in the vicinity. I've had a look around Concord airfield - there are a couple of schools there, not sure of the reputation though. . .Otherwise, have fun. It is a beautiful area, very fine restaurants and rich, beautiful women. Enjoy.

Drop me an E-Mail - I fly out of both KLVK and KCCR. I have a few places to recommend.. .. .The rich beautiful women part is a bit of an exaggeration though. They're not all rich.

I was trying to organise a Bash a while back but gave up due to lack of interest... Still, there's hope. If enough Ppruners visit around the same time maybe we can do something.. .I too fly from San Carlos (crispy banana... do I know you?) It is probably the closest GA field to San Francisco. Do a search of this forum and you'll find more info about it and flying around here courtesy of me and others.. .The two recommended FBOs at San Carlos are Diamond Aviation (www.ksql.com) and West Valley Flying Club (www.wvfc.org). West Valley has the advantage of having a wide selection of Cessnas and Pipers, and being both at San Carlos and Palo Alto.. .Depending on how long you're around, there are plenty of good places to fly to. Monterey is a nice flight down the coast for example. You can check out pics here:. . Flying Pictures . .Wx at the moment is lovely... . .Drop me an email if you want more info.. . . . [ 29 March 2002, 01:31: Message edited by: BayAreaLondoner ]

A fellow Ppruner, skua, did some aerobatics from Livermore recently. He posted some info about it here as I recall.

Attitude Aviation at Livemore would likely be the place. Some interesting kit, reasonable prices, and with the good weather approaching, a place I will be heading to.. .. .The wealthy women are up here in Danville / Walnut Creek. . .. .Blue skies.

Yes, and their husbands are all down in Silicon Valley!

Incidentally, the SFO micro-bash idea has been re-awakened, probably for early June. Since there seem to be a few locals on this thread, please take at the Pprune Bashes forum for more info.
