PPL training schedule

Hi guys

Its been a little while since I last posted and thankfully now on a completely different subject. Originaly I was looking for some advice regarding the colour vision requirements for Class 1 as I would like to pursue a commercial route. I have since visited Gatwick, sat the CAD test and I am pleased to say I passed.

So now my efforts are fully focused on my PPL training .

I am based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and have chosen Multiflight for my training. I have already had a handful of lessons with them and have been very impressed.

So my question is this; I am quite determined that obtaining my licence here in the UK is the right option for me (hours building may well be a different matter) however what would you guys advice be the most beneficial method of going at it?

I would ideally like to commit to two flying hours per week (this is all I can financially stretch to and thats a push to be honest). In your experience what would be the ideal number of flying hours. Has anybody flown 1 per week and if so did you find yourself mainly going over the previous weeks lesson?

Any advice would be gratefuly received!!

Steve

If you succeed in doing 2 hours a week then you should be able to complete a PPL in around 6 months however: there is a high probability that you will loose 50% of your booked slots due to weather. They won't be evenly spread so some flexibility is required to average two flights per week. There are points where it might pay to concentrate the flying a little, just prior to solo and when completing the navigation exercises. Starting this time of year a good target is to complete by September.

I've been flying once a week on & off with 1-2 months gaps occasionally (due to holidays/uni exams/weather). About 55 hours TT (since June 2008) and Im still working on the 2nd leg of my X-country. From Dec-Feb the weather slowed me down big time. Not the most most effective way of learning but other commitments can slow you down.

If you have time and the money 2 per week should get you through steadily, and make the most of this summer.
