Question completing night rating as part of PPL?

I know it can be done but does it excuse you of the £84 additional fee to the CAA if you send it off with your initial PPL application?

I've heard conflicting answers.

Good try though , you willnot get anything for nothing , even for them to just pick up the phone to give you records costs £40

What a ripoff. I actually considered doing that when I finished my PPL except that I did my test in June so the days were too long to be able to do a night rating. I would have thought it would be waived since they will issue the licence all in one and not have to modify an existing one. How wrong I was proved! Robbing bastar*s!!

FRTOL

Slightly off topic, make sure you have done your radio exam before you send off to CAA-this will be incorporated into your PPL with no extra charge.Send it on later and guess what?

Yes, I did my night qualification within my PPL and was charged the £84 as was everybody I know who did it this way, typical CAA rip off, the same as when I had my IR issued and the examiner had missed off a stamp or signature on something so they charged me £80 to put a rubber stamp below the one they had just done.

I did my NQ as part of my PPL and was told the same thing, apply for all at the same time (PPL, RTOL & NQ) and you won't pay extra. I tried it some years ago now (went there in person), didn't work!!! They wanted another £70-ish(?) for the NQ addition, but as someone else said, the RT ops licence is free if you apply at the same time.
Worth a try though!
