Now you're bringing back memories!!!
Dave C ended up as CFI at Skeggy (saw him there in the early 90s at a fly-in).
Dougie B sent me solo.
Rex Larsen is a name I've known since childhood - my father used to take me to Skegness so we could have a pleasure flights during holidays with my relations in Boston - in the Auster J1N (G-AHAL and others). Rex used to crop spray from Boston in the 60s. Legend had it he could land the Auster in shallow fog at Skegness as his knowledge of the airfield (and skill!) was extensive! Flew Spitfires in WWII if I remember correctly?!

In the mid 1960's, myself and Maurice Cronin flew Condor G-ARVZ, on holiday from Redhill to Eire.
We called at Weston, Coonagh, Shannon, Killarney Racecourse, and Cork.
This was the first 'overseas' touring trip for a Rollason Condor, and my personal aviation 'first'.
Great fun flying along with the radio on your lap, changing crystals!! (6 channels) and on instructions from a Shannon tower controller, calling Cork on 121.5, as we hadn't the correct crystal for their frequency. ( Cork controller was NOT very impressed)
