Some of the fleet waiting to fly.

While the runway is being resurfaced the fleet is grounded so i took some photo's of all that were there as some are away being serviced or flying at other local airfields.

I often wondered what had become of G BBJX. It has evidently had a respray and doubtless accumulated goodness knows how many more hours to add to the umpteen thousands it had already done when I last flew it more than twenty years ago!

Looks like the resurface is going well, I think when it's done I'll have to come down and help break it in.

Unless the resurfacing has been radical enough to point the runway into the prevailing wind...

Well done!

Can't put my finger on why I like Sandtoft so much but I am very pleased to see this investment in the airfields future.

That is a true wind sock direction for that day pointing down the runway.
Photo has been Photoshopped to enhance details, sharpen & crop photo but nothing else has been touched.

It can't be photoshopped - the only time the windsock is pointing down the runway is when it's unusable...

Fond memories of doing my PPL there when I was a Leeds brat. Nice to see it being looked after :-).

Surely Sandtoft 05/23 runway is pretty well aligned for the prevailing winds. Now Leeds Bradford at 14/32.. a good job it's a nice wide runway!

I suppose it depends what type of weather you normally fly in.

Prevailing south westerlies are normally associated with unstable low pressure systems, and North Westerlies with fine high pressure days.

That often makes Leeds the best choice for fair weather flyers!

Breakfast still a good buy & eat if you ever pop in again.
