Medical / Licence
Hi folks, I’m needing a we bit of advice so I hope some of you knowledgeable people may be able to help. A friend of mine has a JAR PPL but is now no longer able to fly due to a medical condition. If he was to get a NPPL medical declaration form signed by his doctor would he be able to continue to fly but with NPPL restrictions. If so, does he need to inform anyone.
Cheers R

This is now I believe fairly common since the introduction of the NPPL/medical declaration.
First question: Yes for sure.
Second Question: I don't think so, but check with NPLG Turweston airfield I think.

Either 1. Maintain his SEP Class Rating exactly as under JAR-FCL. Normal revalidation forms etc. will still be required; or
2. Apply to the CAA (and pay) for a SSEA Class Rating. The advantage of this being that the revalidation requirements are simpler thsn for the SEP Class Rating and can be spread throughout the 24 month validity period.
For full details, see http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/175/AN%20A...%2000%2000.pdf .
Incidentally, ORS4 No.711 expires at the end of August 2009. I will be reminding the CAA of the need to re-issue it very shortly!
