Church Fenton Saturday 21/03/09

On Saturday, i got a Heads up from a friend that the Church Fenton Based Jet Provost Mk4 & 5 Strikemaster, Chipmunk & T6 were going to be flying all day.
We (Penpusher & Myself) arrived at around 10.00am & there were lots of Tutors flying around.
At 10.20 we heard the Chipmunk call in saying he was on his way in from Wickenby, then we saw him on long approach.
The T 6 was towed out earlier while we were waiting for the Chipmunk to come into sight, at around 11.50am the T 6 fired up then taxied out. Took off then did a flyby down the line of Tutors then departed for around 15 mins.
He landed & i have since found out from my friend that;
"Unfortunately, the Harvard was supposed to be flying all day but as it taxi off the runway the port oleo leg burst a seal and completely depressed hence why it went straight back to the hangar"
Also found out why the Jets were a no show;
The jets were due to fly but they are still at North Weald being serviced.
Anyhow we stayed till 12.30 hrs the departed to Elvington.

On with some photo's;

Chipmunk Arriving;

T6 Harvard Taxying past Viewing area:

Take off;

Flyby down the Flight line (Not good Photo's due to heavy Crop);

Landing;

Hope these are of interest to someone.

Trev, thank you for reminding me of a very enjoyable day out.

I arrived in the Chipmunk and it's my silly grin in the back of the T6. After the unfortunate early retirement, we flew around 8 pax trips in the Chippy during the afternoon.

Return home viz was dire, but we were very happy bunnies as we pushed the a/c back into the hangar.

Many thanks to all our YUAS hosts.

I Thought I heard a Harvard calling Church Fenton. I was in the climb to 10,000ft with skydivers in Fife. Church Fenton and Leuchars use the same freq.
