LAA Fly-IN Tibenham - G-AVTC Nipper re-born
Great variety of types turned up in glorious weather for an LAA Fly In at Tibenham on Saturday.
Highlight was the presence of recently restored Tipsy Nipper G-AVTC inna smart Red and White Colour Scheme
below are links to a couple of images of it baking in the winter sun
Tipsy T.66 Nipper, G-AVTC, Private

It was due to make its 1st post restoration flight later in the day

What a shame I didn't hear about the fly in. I was up and about only a couple of miles away and could have dropped in. Where was it publicised? or was it a private do.

Hi Zula Alpha - my thoughts exactly - nothing on the "Web" - apparently it was advertised in the LAA Magazine - such a pity - as there was not much else on that day and given the weather I am sure many others would have joined in
I can confirm that G-AVTC did make a successful first post restoration flight later in the day

Tibenham
Breckland Strut put something out about a couple of days before, but I believe that they had not been given much notice.
Zulu ,I could have bagged a lift as I'm not flying until medical on Friday.
My fault ,teach me to remember when it runs out next time

Lister,
Would have loved to give you a lift, but it would have been a bit breezy out on the wing (ZA is a single seater).
I had a young aviator who is based at Tibbenham drop in for a Coffee on Sat about 2pm and even he didn't know it was on and he had just taken off from there.

The fly-in was open to all,it was supposed to be a low key LAA forum fly-in,the first of this year. The idea is to have one fly-in per month at different locations,on a Sat or Sun on the 3rd weekend of the month.See the LAA forum (there is a sticky on the fly in thread) for details.
Norfolk Gliding club very kindly put their wonderfull airfield at my disposal for this, the first event and I was only expecting half a dozen arrivals.
The weather gods smiled on us (my initials are J.C.) and the rest as they say is history.
I was somewhat over-run by the turnout, approx 60 aircraft ,and I am sure everyone that flew in will join me in thanking NGC for letting us stage the flyin and also say thanks for the stirling work behind the counter in the clubhouse.
It was a tiring day for me,I tried to welcome everyone personally but obviously missed some! However it was a wonderfull day and the lasting impression was a day of smiling faces surounded by every sort of aircraft sharing the facilities in perfect harmony, ranging from gliders, weight shift and 3 axis microlights right up to some fairly heavy metal. Exactly what the docter ordered!
The icing on the cake was later in the day seeing my son at the controls of TC with air under its wings.
A perfect day!

Yes indeed, a really grand day out Grommit!. I tripped over it by chance as I had a free landing voucher out of one of the mags and headed there on the off chance. Nice light touch on the A/G and an amazing effort by the team behind the food counter considering the numbers. Good to see Gordon/Alistair haven't killed off our hobby. The bonus was I even had my aircraft's picture in the last post on the thread (G-AWVG).
ZHI is one of the more active Airtourers and is owned by a group at Rochester. They've had a lot of work done on it and it looks very smart in it's new colour scheme (see G-INFO for a picture). Are you based in France?

I spend quite a bit of time over here since I gave up the working...I'm glad that the old girl's being looked after properly, you are never more than a custodian of these sort of things...keep 'em going and enjoy them in the process, until the next "owner" comes along!!

Hi Molemot,
I'm in the AZHI group and have been for the last 4-5 years. If your ever around in the SE drop me a line and I'll take you up in the old girl again... For old times.
When were you an owner??
Clive.
ps thanks for the comments Chris, we've just done another small fortune on the CofA!!
