Good idea. Its a nasty job. I find the best solution is not to get the first slot in the am. I would be surprised to see their limited funds stretching to such luxuries! I was once provided with a thimble of deicer and a broom with hardly any bristles, but I thought that was quite generous though! Anyway I think the Hangar Comitee are unlikely to provide coverage for there (now) competitors aircraft.

Thats why I was asking when the management have the hangar until. These things do change hands sometimes.

PB came out with de-icer, scraper etc and also offered to call in the pro de-icing boys (f o c) but I thought that was a bit too pricey. Nice of him to offer though.

I think covers would be about a grand per aircraft. Quite a lot but well worth it in the long run, door seals are known to be a bit leaky.
I remember one PA38 in the central belt that you needed to use a sponge to get the water out, I would hate to see that happen to our toys up North. Hopefully thats not the Tom that the Club are thinking of....Its in my log book so I`ll be keen to see.

I normally try to avoid the morning slot too but sometimes its good to get up before it gets lumpy or busy.
Managed to get 11 - 3 next time so hope to get up to Plockton for lunch or maybe Kirkwall.

Glad to see this thread back online about flying!

I must agree the ethos of hanging the dirty laundry out on PPRUNE amazed me no end! The Scots I personally know not only have a great ethos, beard or not, but they were in fact brilliant people with plenty of humor!

So I too shall be taking a flight to Scotland and visiting some of the smaller fields there and spotting that famous scenery.

Hangerage is key not only for the door seals but also for the paintwork as well as making the de-icing a thing of the past.

Perhaps the school and aero club could find some common ground here and try to get hold of hangar space together? I would think it helps retain the value of the plane and so should be cost effective especially buying in bulk!

It would make a good start in repairing the damage.....

NoBeard,

your posts are far more friendly than on the previous thread. Regardless of our involvement in either side of this saga it is commendable that you now post in the positive

In the end its the same bunch of pilots no matter who provides the vehicle, we should all try to get along.

Being from around Snecky, I am presuming those curtains are purple.
(sorry to all non Northerners who wont get that comment)

Van,

If you do ever come to Scotland PM me in advance, I work for myself and have a lot of free time and would gladly meet up enroute.

Nice to see people adopting a friendlier attitude and attempting to get along.

We have all seen it before, ill-informed busy bodies stubbing there oar in wherever they can or hiding behind some identity to further whatever agenda they have.

So lets let the powers that be do their bit and the rest of use mere mortals get on with flying.

You will see from the thread that the Aero Club are not quite in the position for rental yet but will be soon.
The school have several aircraft and several pricing options, best thing would be to give them a call and discuss your needs. In my opinion they are probably the best rates you`ll get in Scotland except perhaps at Lossie.

Inverness Light Aircraft Hangar

A few FACTS might help here. The hangar is owned by the airport. Some years ago they delegated management of the hangar to a users Hangar Committee. Sorry girls, it has nothing to do with HAC. The owners pay a large amount of hard earned to use the hangar. There are some very interesting aircraft in there and I am sure if you ask politely you will be shown around. The hangar is full in the sense that if an owner wants to go flying he/she can extract said aircraft with minimum of inconvenience to anyone else or without risk of bending another inmate. "don't assume, check".

Hi Bunroy

Perhaps if the hangar is being utilised so well the airport would consider enlarging it to also accommodate the flying club and flying school planes? Obviously for money.

The hangar management committee (do you guys in Scotland do everything by committee!!??) are they the rental owners?

Bunroy,

good system, Ive seen too many dings to leading edges etc due to cramped hangars where you can tell the offending aircraft from the colour of the scrape.(but no-one moved it)
Any idea if new hangars are planned in the redevelopment over at the tower side?
I could look at the local plan but it probably wont have been submitted yet.

Van,

if its not a comittee its a public enquiry

hey van da man

this might come as a surprise but i like this one
o jay Simpson was found not guilty of murder
but lost 85 million in court
i do believe there is still an investigation or two ongoing
its all interesting stuff though.

the idea of a cover up in the sticks for aircraft is an interesting one
im not in favour of it it causes condensation, paint gets rubbed away,
and old leaky aircraft suffer from the mould build up inside

No bearde woman

I guess now that all of you are back on "normal" terms it s probably best to wait and see.

In due course the investigation will conclude, in due course the school will become operational i their new premises, and in due course people will or will not renew their memberships or go elsewhere.

What i hope is that all will find back their joy of flying

Covers,

mould, yes if covered long term but not if just overnight to prevent frost.

Same down here in Ed, weatherwise.

Investigations? Cant wait to see outcomes....private and otherwise......

The joy of flying remains the same
