Single-Charter in Romania

Hi,

I´m looking for to charter more often a single engine (like C182, C172, PA28 or similar) in Bukarest (or next to). I tried to contact aopa.ro and some webpages - it was a desaster - not even one responsible person there!!!

I found via local connections 3 planes all of them was crashed (hard landing) and not anymore for charter!?!

Thanks for any help, regards

Eddi

pm me and i ll give you a direct contact at Baneasa and Tuzla.

VFR flight is limited in Romania. Do you want to fly with a romanian pilot or self fly?

Hi vanHorck,

I fly only myself!

Tuzla: if you mean Regional Services - I´m in Contact with Mr. Dorin Ivascu - he has a C182 and is since two weeks not able to let me know the HP and the Charterprice without pilot.

Baneasa would be fine, if it´s not the national-training-school - there you can rent only with pilot!

Thanks and best regards

Then you're in trouble...... GA is still in it's infancy in Romania.

The national flying school is indeed the one on Baneasa, although they also own the short (bad) grass strip at Strejnic near Ploiesti which they intend to tarmac soon. They have some Cessna singles and a couple of Seneca V's, but as it is a school I guess you ll always need an instructor.

Dorin Ivascu is MD of Baneasa airport and owner of Tuzla, if he can't help you few others will be able to. He is a most likable chap and very well connected.

The Romanian AOPA is small but a few good enthousistic members, perhaps you can hitch a ride with a few, but renting,..... i don't think so.

Anyway, Romanian airspace is very restricted as it is controlled by the military. Certainly on foreign registered airplanes you need to apply to the Romanian CAA at least 48 hours before any VFR flight, incl copies of CofA (CAA Romania Mihaela Rotariu, 021 2081530,fax 021 2081583 email ops [email protected] ), insurance and intended route, and they make you fly low level, not sure how this applies to Romanian registered airplanes with a foreign license.

There are no current legal VFR maps and the romanian VFR AIP is incomplete.

You could also try the national aero club in Bucharest 021 3123619, who got me some MOD VFR maps.

My guess would be that you find a plane with a romanian safety pilot, perhaps IFR rated (Dorin will be able to help you, ask for Vali, who is also a part time instructor at the national flying school) and still enjoy the flying.

Vali will let you pilot the plane but it makes life a lot easier doing it that way.

Let me know how you got on!

Bert

There is a new VFR Chat - ICAO, made by Jepp for Romanian CAA, 1:500000. Don't know if is the scale, the amount of details looks insufficient for a true VFR flight, but well we are in the GPS era. Can be obtained through Romanian CAA, [email protected]. Airspace is well depicted.
Indeed VFR flights are complicated, with (way in time) preliminary schedule/approval to the military head, and mandatory flight plans in all classes, but still manageable with some patience. Well, not at a click to the next flight, we all hope things will change.
Sorry to not be able to help with the real subject, GA is really next to nothing, you can have bigger luck in microlight area where you can find some hot ships, quite a few CTSWs and so.

Thanks Bert, I'm reading the forum from quite some time!

Yes microlight pilot (3 axes), with several hundreds of hours in the log, mostly in the NE of the country.
