Actually it is a mistake, but not in the way you mean.

The jumper was caught in a static line deployment bag not the under carriage. It became wrapped around his ankle as he exited.

The pilot of the BN2T however was a civilian.

He took the aircraft up to 8000ft before coming back to cut the jumper away.

Both landed safely, one with bruises.

Note to Sky News Ed. When trawling through the archives looking for photos of parachutists dropping from a Light Aircraft, maybe a C-130 Herc is not the best fit...
