PPL Instrument Rating

I am thinking after ppl is done (very soon hopefully )
to go and do IR rating just want a bit of advice as to ground school and actuall flying where to go etc
If I was to go on and cpl and ATPL's does the IR get carried forward or do you need to do more on top

You will need to do either ATPL or IR Theory exams before you can do the IR flying training, assuming of course we're speaking JAA Land licensing.

You will also need the minimum hours requirements etc

Is the objective private flying or airline job?

Commercial is the final goal just waiting too get ppl out of the way then going for class 1 if I fail that then Just PPL

If your suggesting you want to go for an airline job then you need to do the atpl exams after your ppl. You will then be eligible to do cpl and IR etc.

If you simply wish to do an Ir as an add on to your ppl then you should do the Ir exams after ppl as opposed to the atpl's.
