Aircraft rental in LA
I'm off to LA for a few days next week and would like to hire a single engine Piper or Cessna. Anyone got any suggestions on where I go? I checked a few places out online and sent some emails, but got no reply...

You could always try Sunrise Aviation out at Santa Anna John Wayne International (Also known as Orange County) KSNA. They are a nive outfit, with good aeroplanes - Katana DA20, J3 Cub, and the usual Spam Cans,.....
Alternatively, try Air Desert Pacific, or Long Veach Flying Club...
Good luck, and have fun,

I've used Justice Aviation at Santa Monica airport. Mainly single engine Cessnas, including G1000s. I thought they were very good.
From Santa Monica, Santa Barbara is a nice short journey to the NW, also when rejoining you can route quite low-level towards Beverly Hills and the Hollywood sign for great sightseeing.

Try:
Rolling Hills Aviation at Torrance, KTOA, just south of Redondo Beach.

Really nice guy, Bill, runs it. I suggest you give him a call beforehand. I can recommend the hop over to Catalina, or over to Chino for the museum. Or pop in to Corona and give Spruce n Speciality a visit.
Have a look on this website for US sectionals:

And for US airport charts:

Justice aviation at Santa Monica. Free parking, beach is 10 mins away and they have some nice aircraft,(and some quite cheap ones too!)
V UK friendly, they put up with me for years!
Do a check out flight to Catalina island, also gets you to fly over LAX midfield....try doing that at LHR! Another good one is to ask for a flight over long beach/QE2 then low level up the LA "river"/Dodger Stadium/Hollywood sign/Downtown/Sunset strip. Takes about 1 hr 20 chock to chock....or
about 70 quid including instructor for the checkout!
Have fun.
