Hi everyone,
Hope you can help, I've got a quick question about adding the SEP rating to a licence.
I have:
JAA CPL with MEP
NZ PPL with Cessna 172 type rating
I've looked in LASORS but that seems to be about converting my NZ licence into a UK licence, which I already have.
I imagine I will have to do some kind of flight test for the class rating, but can anyone tell me what it will involve? Is it a quick SUTTO, EFATO, PFL then a few circuits? Or do I have to go through the whole 'excitement' of Nav/Diversion etc. like I did on the CPL test?
Is there any way I can use my NZ licence just to add the SEP rating onto my valid (and current) JAA CPL?

Mate, LASORS F9 is your friend:
A class rating endorsed on a licence issued by a
non-JAA State may be transferred to a UK issued pilot’s
licence, subject to:-
i. 100 hours flying experience on the class.
ii. Operational experience as pilot on the class
within the preceding 5 years.
iii. Pass a Proficiency Check with a JAA Authorised Examiner
If you haven't got 100 hrs on SEP, then you'll have to do some training, then pass the SEP Class Rating Skill Test with a JAA Authorised Examiner.
The LPC and LST are almost identical, except that the LST is supposed to be a bit more of a 'test' than the LPC.
But basically it's a short leg of pilot nav (very much at Examiner's discretion, but around 15-20 min proving that you know what you're doing), plus the Steep Turns, a couple of Stalls, PFL, back for a couple of circuits to include an EFATO and a low go-around as you describe.
And a few squids to those nice people in the big grey Gatwick building!
