Totally agree with what's been said. Great service friendly people and if any of you fancy a flight around the Oban area your more than welcome. Hope you all have a prosperous new year and I will hear you in 2008.

Thanks Scottish and the very best to you all in 2008!

Greetings Fishbangwollop, well (Paul!) if there was ever an organisation that was so happy to serve whilst making new comers like me welcome it would be Scottish Info! You guys are terrific and have helped us out at Loch Lomond Seaplanes immeasurably in 2007. I only have a hard time following the chap with the beautiful Scottish accent from time to time but hey I've got a strange accent too eh! I also wish I could talk with somebody when we're down low chasing sheep on those misty west coast days too! Well I'm keen to get out there again soon and will be speaking with you guys again on or around the 5th of March when we start the services again!

Cheer's and many thanks Paul and the rest of the Scottish Info team!

hmmm non Scottish accent on a floatplane... Canadian by any chance ?

Don't think I ever had a problem with the Scottish FIS diction (and I'm not a native) apart from the Ruschmeyer R90 which sounded more like Rushmore (I was looking out for the Presidents' faces) but then again it was flown by a lovely pilotesse so I guess my attention was elsewhere

As you can tell the Scottish FIR is a small world !

Sorry to cast a negative note but given how wonderful Scottish Info is and the fact we don't pay for it, I wonder how long it will continue? I've always been slightly nervous that it seems like a service from a different era - pleasant, chatty, helpful and FREE! You even get good jokes on 119.875.

I can't see that (even with the new 7401 squawk) it gives NATS much benefit in terms of stopping/identifying infringements, and in the areas where that might be an issue I can see NATS saying that Glasgow, Edinburgh and Prestwick should be expected to provide a FIS to local transit traffic.

My favourite is when I'm coming back on a long trip from the south, contact Sc Info somewhere over Cumbria/Northumberland, then after a while they tell me they're about to go home but they've passed my details to base and suggest I contact them, and have a good flight. Gives you a real warm feeling. Long may they continue!

We had a great days flying today. The weather was just fantastic and the views around the north of Scotland were incredible. Once again, Scottish Info did us proud and were their usual first class. Always helpful, always friendly.

NorthSouth......hopefully no worries there regarding provision of service. NATS is duty bound by ICAO to provide the service, in the past ( some 13 years ago) the service was provided by an ATCO whilst at the same time providing a radar service to commercial traffic, this at times became immpossible whilst operating 2 frequencies.......nowadays the radar sectors are far too busy to operate in this bandboxed fasion, hence the FIR sector is now manned by Area FISO's whom provide a dedicated FIS task.

As for Prestwick/Glasgow /Edinburgh providing FIS that is indeed at times what they do....however Scotland stretches a wee bit further than their airspace does!!
