IMPORTANT - Registering a PLB for aviation use.

Information from Craig O'Reilly at UK ELT Database, ARCC, Royal Airforce Kinloss.
Now that we have exemption from the latest ANO changes regarding mandatory 'Approved ELT's' and are allowed to use marine PLB's for aviation use, the United Kingdom Mission Control Centre (UKMCC) has requested that all PLB's used for aviation be registered with them.
The registration form can be downloaded from HERE - UKMCC Website
As the PLB's are classed as a EPIRB the registration details will also be passed onto the EPIRB Registry at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency based in Falmouth.
The main reason for this is to ensure that all PLB's/ELT/EPIRB's used for aviation has a 24 hour point of contact. The EPIRB database at Falmouth does not mandate this 24 hour point of contact.
Any further information can be gained by contacting the UKMCC Operator at ukmmc[at]atlas.co.uk or by telephone on 01309 690469
