Hereford AIAA
I am due to have my skills test tomorrow to route to Hereford
NOTAMS says there will intense mil rotary wing activity WI 10nm radius of Hereford (SAS I suppose) for the next few days from SFC to 2000' amsl.
I had planned to be at 3000' o/h Hereford but I will raise this a little.
I feel safe to go as I hope the mil pilots will be above average at sticking to correct alt.
Any views on this appreciated

MM, it's not an avoid area (the NOTAM is advisory only) so if you really need to use that airspace there is nothing to prevent you from doing so. Personally I'd go round or over not below 2000 ft (certainly don't scud run because of something like this) and just keep an extra good lookout. Be aware the area is ordinarily likely to be busy below 2000 ft as a part of the military low flying system.

I fly around Hereford on a regular basis and although Military traffic avoids flying o/h Hereford itself, the surrounding area can be very busy with fast jets and helicopters generally below 2000ft entering and leaving the Brecon Beacon training areas. Be especially vigilant around Hay On Wye as they tend to funnel down the Wye valley close to the town.
If there were, they'd presumably be within D216. Can't see anything wrong with your initial plan to overfly Hereford at 3000' modelman - keep to the East of Hereford racecourse (clearly visible from the air) and you'll avoid D216.
Good luck with your skills test
PS If your routing anywhere near Wolferton (~20 miles N of Hereford), don't be surprised if you hear music over the RT in the area - always happens to me within 10 miles or so of it
