Waiting and waiting and waiting...

Hey guys - Got a receipt from the good old CAA yesterday telling me that they'd taken £159 out of my account for the issuing of my PPL

Anyone know the average time now before I get the lovely brown book!?

Edited cos I just saw there's a similar thread...... but I decided to leave it here as no1 seems to have mentioned getting the receipt first??

I got my receipt in the post yesterday, so am hoping that it will be in the next week. My CFI told me at my test they are really quiet at the moment so should be a couple of weeks from the date it was sent off to the CAA.

Be a nice easter present

yep it would have been three weeks for mine but heres the thingTo cut long story short
Sent off application with passport as Id
Get phone call from CAA telling me to contact
Contact they say that my place of birth (Hazel Grove) is spelt wrong in passport(Hazel Groue) apparently
They send it all back and ask for brith certificate or new passport
I get copy of birth certificate from local council office this isnt good enoguh it has to be original
So passport waiting time is estimated at a month, hey i wanna fly
Off to liverpool get passport reissued with hazel grove spelt correctly
Get CFI to sign it fax it off and bobs your fathers brother
3 days later I have spanking new licence whoohoo
whole waiting time 4 weeks
Open it up have alook like you do what do I see?
Place of Birth ........ wait for it................
"Bramhall"
whats all that about ?

ALL Birth/Marriage/Death certificates are copies. What you get is a certified copy of the entry in the Official Register.

Jodel all very well bu they only accept the original copy given to your parents at birth , apparently
heard a great new adage for the caa last week from a piloting chum
"Were not happy until your not happy"
sounds about right

Which one? I got three when I registered my elder daughter's birth. I think the CAA are wrong not to accept ANY copy.

JOdel , not sure I sent off a certified copy that i got from the registrar of births beaths and marriages the CAA said that was unnaceptable it had to the original, i lost the one my mother gave me when I was 18 ish so really couldnt comment , I would wait till your daughter applies for her licence it may be come clear then however if she has a valid passport with everything spellee right she wiont need the certificate anyway , Remember this is the CAA we are dealing with

Congrats to you all on getting the licence! Mine took 5 weeks, but's only coz the idiot postman delivered it to next door and they had just gone on holiday! I was panicking like mad! It would have been just under 3 weeks.

Anyone else disappointed with their licence when it arrived? It's just an unassuming piece of paper. I was expecting gold leaf or something! Having said that, it was still pretty awesome. Mine took about a week around November time.

Hey guys thanks for the replies, you were about right with the two/three weeks ish thing... I got mine this morning, pretty exciting until I saw the colour! But what does colour matter when you can FINALLY take your mates flying!

Just one question.... I got everything back that I sent like my passport, pass paper given to me by the examiner etc. But my QXC pass paper (you know the one that was signed by the ATCO upon landing) was not returned..... should it have been?

Cheers

Ian
