Just interested, as I thought that Biggin was small private jets and smaller airfield only.

Thanks

No, the Bond film was filmed at Peyresourde in the Pyrenees. Here's a picture, not taken by me:

No, it's Alpe d'Huez. This is Méribel (sorry about the quality):

The altiport where the Dash 7 used to land is Courchevel.

Full Emergency - it's an A.319CJ

The tail enscription was queried by some when it brought the US Ryder Cup team to B'ham. (I think it has altered since)

Thanks.

I wasn't aware that A319 could get in and out of Biggin. I know that they can just about do it at LCY, but a 737 can't.

There was a bit in Skyport recently that they really want to increase the use of Biggin (commerically) in the future, but still need the go ahead from Bromley Council first.

The current Council have told the local residents "no expansion" but money talks.............. I guess we will have to wait and see.

stand corrected re meribel/courcheval !!
dont know about the A319 performance but when you get a sharp pencil out for the A320 - at light weights you can get the landing distance req down to 1000 mtrs

Last year DHL brought a 757 into Biggin for the Air Fair, and some years ago the Project Orbis DC-8 (flying eye hospital) got in and out for the show as well.

Nice pics everyone.

Hi again all,

Yes that was my old A319CJ. Biggin is absolutely no problem at all (we could depart at MTOW if needed and blast off across the pond) - City is a problem. The runway is plenty long enough but the slope is not possible within certification criteria. Airbus are working on certifying the A318 at City at the moment but I believe that this needs some flap-tweaking.

Hi Barcli - the YellowBird is being repainted (even yellower) at the moment but we should be up and running again shortly.

at light weights you can get the landing distance req down to 1000 mtrs
As you know; you can land anywhere once!

cheers all

That was before it snowed.... it's not looking so happy now. It tipped onto its tail under the weight of snow. Here's a link to their website with the sad pictures.

Excellent pictures.
Anybody got pictures for Edinburgh runway, ramp, approach ,etc. and surroundings. Will help us to update visual scenery for simulation training.

Many thanks in advance.
