anybody have any experience in building one or flying one the 2 seat type and tri gear what are the pitfalls if any

have narrowed it down to the zodiac 601 xl or the pulsar 150 kis

Never flown either aircraft, so can't comment about flying. There always seem to be plenty of Pulsars and slightly fewer Zodiacs advertised for sale in the PFA mag, for more or less (often less) than the cost of the kit, so unless you particularly want to build one, would be well worth looking there.
