Cushing Field, IL, USA ????

Hi,

Anyone know if Cushing Field in IL, USa is still going ?

It's a small grass strip about 40 mileswest of Chicago, used to be owned and run by a retired TWA Captain, alias Bud Cushing along with his family ....

I have fond memories of doing some hours building there in 90 and 90, it was $20 @ $2=£1 ! (£10/hours wet) for a C152 with free accomodation !!!

Had some great trips from there, very layed back and fun place ........ would be nice to think they are still going and at todays $/£ I would be keen to return .......

I did a quick search and came up with the following web site, apparently they do hang gliding now.

noblues - I was wondering exactly the same thing a few months ago, glad somebody else remembers the place. Did my PPL there in 93, thoroughly enjoyed myself. C150 for $30/hr wet, plus instructor at $15/hr. Qualifying cross-country to Ohkosh, marvellous! Communal kitchen with three olympic size fridges stacked full of beer and pizza. The airfield VW Rabbit. The Citabria.

Ahhh, happy days they were...
