Is this still on?
WX permitting of course
I've probably put the gremlins on it by booking a plane. At least I got a few circuits in today, so I'm current aginst the remote possibility of it being flyable tomorrow!
Meet up sometime between 11 and 12?

Hi Al ,
or can I call you Stik:
I have decided 2004 will be ring tweak year and I am going to compile a list of short (but legal) strips to get the Arrer in. (and out)
Please let me know the length/orientation of your strip (plus any interesting radio masts/trees on the approaches) for a 1 -up (naturally) and low tanks visit.
Always assuming PPR!
safe flying
Cusco.

A very enjoyable day out. A big thanks to the organisers and caterers (excellent Ham, Egg and Chips), to DOC.400 for providing plane and pilot and SaaB Dastard for the company.
Our trusty steed
The final appraach through the gloom
It was getting quite busy just after lunch
Saab Dastard and DOC.400 cunningly try to start a seized PW engine by turning it the wrong way
This was a very sad sight, is there any chance of her flying again?
And finally, the journey home. A big thanks to Thames Radar for the direct routing.
What a cracking way to commit aviation, and so early in the year as well.

Thanks for the lift Doc - yes, it was a bit gloomy
Great to meet you, MotF - and nice pics, too.
We only saw Kolibear and EvePee there - and they weren't even flying in! Were there any other PPRuNers there?
I look forward to the next one
Cheers

MotF - nice photo of finals - I've never had a chance to admire the view before! The Beech 18 is up for sale if you'd like to make an offer and rumour has it that the Catalina is going to Israel. The B-25 is definately a candidate for the scrapper though.
The DC-4s are alive and well, I saw one of them produce a huge smokescreen as the engines were run up a few weeks ago. There is more oil on the tarmac under their engines now than there is in them
It was a good day - more aircraft arrived than were expected so Thank you to all who braved the weather, I heard pilots calling up who had come from from Fenland and Nethersthorpe.
I shall pass your compliments about the food on to 'The Naafi Girls' - who worked really hard.

I was there, enjoying the most excellent turnout of aircraft. Does anyone know how many were there in total, in the end? I heard that only 4 were booked in originally but there must have been 60-odd when I left...

A really good day and once again top marks to all at EGSX for their hospitality.
I saw Kolibear taking the covers off when I walked over to book in, but he was gone when I came back out so I didn't get a chance to say Hi.
The circuit got very busy at times and the guys on ATC did a sterling job.

Yes, it was a bit mad, especially when we encountered an opposite direction microlight on base leg....
However, they do need to ask pilots to 'land long and clear at the intersection' to avoid opposite direction conflict outside the Squadron. Happened to me once before, it's fine if u know the system, but not if u r new to NW. Otherwise, "a grand day out Gromit!!"

Following an invite from Kolibear at the GatBash, I did do my best to attend, but 'events' got in the way. Sounds like I missed a good day and I'm sorry for it. Will try and fly in soon anyway.
