A dinosaur here.
On quite a few posts where photos are included, I cannot see the photo. Just a beeg white space. I'd like to se the photos, can anyone help/advise, please?

Now, I get the same thing with YT videos, just You Tube (as a link) and a big white space underneath - a new thing for me on here and quite irritating.

the easiest way is to hit "Quote" - the full link then comes up and you can click on it

No, I used to see the vid displayed so able to judge whether to watch it or not.
