New posts since last visit problem?
For the last week or so, the new posts on forums I visit bear no relation to the last visited date-time.
e.g. last visited 22 Sep 14:35, but new posts only highlighted from some time on 23 Sep, with last posts on several threads dated after my last visit.
Tried doing 'mark forums read' before logging out, makes no difference.
Any ideas? Makes following threads a bit frustrating!

It's happening on all forums. Here's a screengrab from when I first started thinking about reporting the issue. You can see that my date of last visit is earlier than the last post on two threads (also affects threads with unread posts).
My high water mark for unread posts seems to be about a day, while I normally visit the site every couple of days.
Very confusing, and still happening - has been a problem for at least two weeks, though at first I thought it was my finger trouble!
All assistance gratefuly accepted.

Maybe I am not quite understanding what you are describing. Could you start again and be as clear as possible?
Since this seems to be a timing issue, probably older screen shots are not going to be very helpful.

Screenshot is an example of what is still occurring, and was deliberately chosen as it shows the problem while having a relatively small number of threads.
In normal ops, when I log out the time of last visit is updated, and when I next log in threads that have new posts since that time are highlighted in bold . When I open up a thread by using the 'go to new posts' icon it positions me at the right point in the thread.
For the last few weeks, this has not been the case. Using the 'quick links' option to manually mark forums read makes no difference.
On the screenshot, my last visit is 22nd Sep 2016 at 14:35.
The threads 'I'd love to do this, Windows on a Mac' and 'The answer is do it first, or don't do it...' have last posts at 23rd Sep 07:35 and 22nd Sep 21:55 respectively. Therefore these threads should have titles in bold.
The two later threads, with last posts on 23rd Sep, are titled in bold. So, despite the system knowing my last visit was on 22nd Sep 2016 at 14:35, it fails to recognise new posts until sometime during the day on the 23rd Sep.
Currently, with a last visit of 4th Oct 15:23, there are threads on the Military Aviation forum up to 5th Oct 14:54 unmarked, and a go to last post on a marked thread takes me to a post dated 5th Oct 17:38 while there are other posts before that dated after my last visit.
I hope that lengthy description helps illustrate the issue a bit. I appreciate the problem is probably at my end, otherwise there would be more people raising it, but all other forum sites I visit are working as normal.
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I'll try and set up a new user to see if that cures it!

Tocsin, I think I understand. When you click on the arrow pointing down on the left of the thread title ("Go to first new post"), you go to the correct last post you've missed. But when you click the right-pointing arrow on the right of the title ("Go to last post"), it takes you to the very end, is that correct?

@Karearea - that's the issue!
The 24 hour thing would not be a problem for addicted pruners, as they would be on (several times...) daily, but for some of us life intervenes.
I was assuming it was just me, by the lack of responses, but if you're seeing the same issue it may be PPRuNe.
@IBJoel - it's the 24hr thing that is key - my lengthy exposition was describing the effect (that highlighted threads and 'go to first new post' positioning was screwed up).
Hope that helps. I'm unlikely to be on PPRuNe after tomorrow for a few days as work intervenes, back about Thursday.
