FRENCHWOMAN SURRENDERS HER TOP
A woman from France was arrested after police say she caused a scene at Indiana's Evansville Regional Airport.
Indiana State Police say 56-year-old Eliane Aguillaume of Paris took off her shirt and bra after becoming aggravated with a federal screener.
The female screener was scanning Aguillaume's bra area with a hand-held metal detector. Aguillame put her hands inside her sweater, which forced the screener to scan the area again. Police say that's when Aguillaume become agitated and took off her sweater, shirt and bra.
State police say Aguillaume resisted arrest and after she was handcuffed dropped to the ground and refused to get up.
Aguillaume was charged with disorderly conduct in an airport, resisting arrest and indecent exposure. She is being held at the Vanderburgh County jail on a $5,300 bond.
Both gates at the airport were closed for about ten minutes.

Not very. Which raises the question of what a woman from Paris would be doing in Evansville.
Maybe she misunderstood a sign cautioning against putting floppies through the x-ray machine.

Jet II asks:
Not very is right. http://www.evvairport.com/ But there are actually 10 gates and two “concourses” though to be honest, the concourses are simply the right and left half of the building. But we have rocking chairs in the middle to sit in while you look out over the runway. One of three!
Eboy asks:
Visiting family apparently.
The police have been getting a workout at the airport recently. This event happened last week.

Exactly how big is this airport?

On the serious side, definitely sounds like a little bit of "Barney Fife" syndrome on the part of security. I really don't think a felony charge is warranted. The woman is travelling outside her country - 56 years old - I'm sure probably has no criminal record - now winding up in jail trying to do something as simple as boarding an airplane. Sure she overreacted, but then who's perfect.
Serious question though - do these support wires set off the x-ray scanner often? (Ladies?)
(edited for duplicate info)

Interesting. I spent a few years of my youth near Danville, IL so I sort of know the area, but never visited Evansville.
From the article you posted, it looks like that woman has problems. Looks like she could get 1 1/2 years.
No matter how frustrated I am at security, it is always Yes Sir, No Sir, Yes Maam, and No Maam.

AtlPax states:
You could very well be right. They seem to be taking security much more seriously here than in other airports I flew through this summer. Everyone gets handwanded, after passing through the detectors, some people are pulled off the line then for the shoe inspection. Then they do the extra check of people at the gate. At least they’ve stopped having the National Guard patrolling the airport.
Atlpax also asks:
Mine haven’t. Not even at Evansville. I did observe a young ladies piercings setting off a handwand in Minneapolis though. I assume it was a piercing that is, based on where the wand was.

"Serious question though - do these support wires set off the x-ray scanner often?"
In my experience travelling with Mrs CS, yes. And very embarrassing it is too for her. She got so fed up with being groped by (admittedly female) security personnel on one trip that for the next flight she resorted to taking off said garment in the toilets before security then putting it back on afterwards. She is fairly broadminded so gawd knows how older, more modest ladies feel. (Think how your mother would feel with some neanderthal groping her bust in public!!!) No wonder the odd one has a sense of humour failure about it.
Some of these cretins seem to think it's amusing too
