Ryanair landings

Apologies if this has been asked before:

Me and the Mrs have taken several hundred flights ( a number in various airline's B737-800s) and several dozen of those flights have been with Ryanair - our choice.

We'd estimate that 50% of the Ryanair flights have ended in a ' very firm' landing. We can only recall one other 'very firm' landing and that was at Tenerife South and the BMA B707 captain apologised over the PA for that.

So, there must be a reason for Ryanair pilots landing in this manner. I imagine it has something to do with cost ( although with the extra stresses on the airframe, I begin to doubt that.) Does anyone know the real reason why?

Thanks, Freeman

Other than it being recommended on wet runways, my personal observations (but not presented here as a fact) is that they (Ryanair) generally like to get to the gate ASAP. If the the shortest route necessitates vacating the runway early, they're not concerned about making greasers. They get down and off as quickly as safely possible. Nothing wrong with a firm landing anyway.

Hi Freeman Lowell. Yes, the question has been asked before and it's OK to ask it again! If you would like to look through the Ryanair threads in the neighbouring forum:
http://www.pprune.org/airlines-airpo...r-9-a-143.html

The '9' indicates that it is the 9th such thread. Also, Hotel Tango has given an honest reply.

I am going to close this thread, simply because the question is dealt with elsewhere. Please do continue to visit our 'cabin'.
