Ryanair landings

Apologies if this has been asked before:

Me and the Mrs have taken several hundred flights ( a number in various airline's B737-800s) and several dozen of those flights have been with Ryanair - our choice.

We'd estimate that 50% of the Ryanair flights have ended in a ' very firm' landing. We can only recall one other 'very firm' landing and that was at Tenerife South and the BMA B707 captain apologised over the PA for that.

So, there must be a reason for Ryanair pilots landing in this manner. I imagine it has something to do with cost ( although with the extra stresses on the airframe, I begin to doubt that.) Does anyone know the real reason why?

Thanks, Freeman
