"nut rage" trial of former Korean Air VP
"The trial of Korean Air (KAL) heiress Cho Hyun Ah, charged with aviation safety violations following a now notorious "nut rage" incident that triggered a national uproar, opened on Monday.
Cho, also called Heather, who has been in custody since her formal arrest three weeks ago, was whisked into the western district court complex in Seoul by bus through a heavy media presence. Wearing a green prison uniform, Cho stood with her head lowered in the packed courtroom, answering preliminary questions in a near-whisper.
The daughter of Korean Air chief executive Cho Yang Ho could face a maximum 10-year sentence if convicted of the aviation safety violations and a possible five years on additional charges of coercion and interference in the execution of duty."
Kudos to Korea, justice has been done. Now, if only every aviation safety (ahem) incident was treated this seriously...

The trial is beginning. Justice has yet to be done...or do you consider public humiliation to be justice?
In any case, oligarchs and nepotistic types have to come to terms with the modern world.

If you wish to continue this in JetBlast - you're welcome. It's just that my job is to keep the forum on track. There is a reason that the previous thread was closed.
Now, I'm all for a bit of muck throwing and undermining of those in elevated positions but I don't want the newcomer visiting our cabin for the first time to think that we're all a bunch of Bullingdon Boys.
As TightSlot used to say, 'Play Nicely'.

Cho, who was a vice-president with the airline, was found guilty of obstructing aviation safety.
I think she's been punished more than her deeds warrant. Jail is temporary. Life-long national and global humiliation are not pleasant.

I read on another thread here about her tactics to increase duty-free sales. Apparently she imposed a quota on all flight attendants, and the pressure was so intense (including humiliation) that some of the staff were making their own purchases to meet their quotas. Of course, in Korea, flight attendants are prohibited from making duty free purchases so some were being fined for illegal duty free purchases.
I've tried to find this thread, but couldn't.
If this is true, and I'm not saying it is, then this woman is truly evil. She deserves everything the courts impose on her, perhaps more. I just hope she doesn't get put into a country-club prison.

Greed, pure and simple.
The root of all evil.
The Captain should of had the power to have her thrown off the flight. As Captains authority is fast becoming eroded, he would have no recourse to fairness or justice of course. One hundred percent responsibility and no authority comes to mind.
In fact was the Captain doing his job by not having her thrown off, as she was disruptive and a threat to flight safety? IMHO.
Believe some cabin crew were on their knees begging for forgiveness, FFS! I get on my knees only to God. No one else.

Ineed, alserire. Humans tend to move in 'earthquakes' not in gentle moves. There is always resistance against change and then Boom! - it's happened.
