Passport entry to Turkey
Hi, hope this is the correct forum.
My passport runs out in 4 months and I'm booked on a flight to Dalaman, Turkey on monday morning for a 2 week holiday.
Turkish Embassy say my passport will be ok as I still have over 3 months left after my return flight. But website says that I need 6 months to get in. Anyone know who's right?? The person I spoke to at the embassy in London or the website???
Thomson have said that they will carry me, but can't guarantee my entry to Turkey. Told me to call the embassy.

Suggest writing to the Turkish embassy and getting a letter back from them on headed notepaper confirming their opinion. If you have trouble checking in for your flight to Turkey or at immigration, just show the letter and people may well stop making a fuss.
Don't forget you have to buy a visa on arrival. £10 if you are a UK passport holder, €15 for EU except France and Italy and possibly others, but certainly not Eire, Germany and Netherlands, $20 for a US passport.

You need to talk with an immigration lawyer, who works regularly with Turkey, preferably a Turkish lawyer, to discuss your situation.
Do not rely on any advice from fora such as this.
If the Turkish immigration authorities decide you have tried to enter illegally, because your passport does not meet their stated requirements (6 months minimum until expiry), you may be detained, deported or imprisoned.
Only a lawyer who knows the customs and practice of the immigration authorities is worth listening to.
Please do not just go and try it on, without understanding the potential consequences.
Othewise you risk being a headline in 'The Sun.'

Couldn't agree more. You MUST get approval from the embassy and documentation to confirm what they say.
Otherwise you may find you're doing nothing more than going on a very expensive duty free turnaround, that's if the airline even lets you board.

2 Types of the Turkish Tourist Visa
Turkish Single Entry Visa – The Turkish single entry visa allows foreigners to enter Turkey once. If foreign nationals leave the Turkish territory, then they need to obtain a separate visa to re-enter. This visa is valid for 3 months. And the requirements for this visa are the following:
i. original signed passport valid for six months;
ii. 1 blank visa page available for a visa stamp; and
iii. a copy of a 2×2 passport-type photograph.
Past experience has shown that regardless of what the embassy says the immigration authorities at the port of arrival can over rule and or void your visa and deport. You. Past experience has shown that there is a high probability of you being loaded back onto the same aircraft you arrived on!!!

Just to let you know how I'm getting on. Turkish Embassy about as useful as poking a dead badger with a stick. Then decided to try calling the Dalaman airport Passport Control. Well, I got through and the gentleman I spoke to said that there is no problem as long as I pay for the £10 visa and leave on the flight I'm booked on. When I asked for his name, he just said, Passport control officer and left it at that.
Well, I've decided to go for it and if I have to pay to fly home, then so be it!!
Will let you all know how I get on.
