Is it possible to book an infant ticket on easyJet without a name?
A friend of mine is 7 months pregnant and hoping to fly in June with her infant from ZRH-LGW on EZ. The flights now are very reasonable and she would like to book an extra seat for the infant but of course sex and therefore name are not yet known.
Is there any way to book the seat before the birth? She was thinking to use one of their current favourite names - she would then possibly have to pay a name change fee later. If she waits until after the birth the prices will inevitably be much higher than now anyway.
Any other bright ideas from EZ people or anyone with experience of booking such a trip?
Thanks

You don't usually buy a seat for a baby as they sit on your lap but you do need to buy an infant ticket.
Why don't you ring up Easyjet or failing that ring up a big airline with proper customer care and ask them what people usually do in that situation.

It seems to me that the infant fare is a flat £20 in each direction, regardless of when you book. If so could you add an infant to the booking at a later date?

@Bettygirl, the mother specifically wanted a separate seat for her infant (+carseat) She was also trying to access pprune expertise before paying the 1.50CHF per minute EZY charges in Switzerland for phone enquiries.
Strange how that is so expensive compared to other countries (eg UK 65p) Also EZY is the only operator on this route so why would she call a different airline if she can't fly with them, it would hardly be relevant.
@Anasys, Thanks this has now been done.....

car seats are generally alot harder and complicated to fit on an aircraft seat and have to be a specific type too, i dont believe they can be booked online anyway, for a long flight i would say yes go for that but its such a short flight its not worth the hassle, the cabin crew are very helpful and will make sure mother and baby are comfortable for the flight, if the car seat doesnt fit correctly and secure, it will be offloaded into the hold and u will lose that money, so from experience as ezy cabin crew and a father, its so much easier with baby on lap, so i would phone customer services any time, and its a flat fee of £20 even if u book on the day
you should at least get a spare seat next to you anyway if you go towards the rear of the aircraft, at the front everyone wants to sit on eachothers laps!
hope this helps

Book a cheap 'extra comfort seat' now, to secure the spare seat. No name required.
Pay the GBP20 fee.
Your friend can then worry about the more important things in life.
