I guess you don't travel to the USA as often as most of the people on this thread. Every example of rude, offensive and borderline racist behaviour by immigration officers I've seen has been in the US, and I've seen a few. Perhaps you've been lucky enough to only meet the pleasant ones?
As to 'redundant' security, I don't think he was referring to useful measures that provide multiple layers of security. He was referring to the pointless charade that is a significant amount of the passenger screening process now.

Independent corroboration of my point of view. Security staff bullying and ill-treating an eminent public figure and a pair of pop singers, presumably to get some kind of perverted jolly out of it. Utter utter feminine pudenda.

Interesting to hear that he states that in its most recent report the US Transition Security Administration admits that in testing roughly 75% of fake bombs etc were passed through their screens. So only 25% effective..
