Singapore Airlines Business (Raffles) Class

Hi, I've been shuttling backward and forward between the UK and Australia for the last 18 months and I am scheduled to carry on doing this for some while yet.

I tend to use SIA as frankly, I find the route convenient and the service/customer care excellent.

I wondered if anyone on here had any information about the introduction of SIA's new business class seats on any of the Australia-UK routes? I believe (at the moment) they are on the new 777-300's but might they make an appearance on the 744 or the 777-200's on the SIN-BNE leg?

Also is there any word/indication of when the A380 might enter service, the best information I can find suggests SIA will take delivery in October, so is it reasonable to assume service entry shortly thereafter? If so any ideas on routes?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

As far as I know they haven't announced any other aircraft than the 777-300ER that will have the new seats. They need to do something as the seats etc in the 772s are beginning to show their age, even the so-called space beds are not really that sharp any more.

They are still clinging to the notion that an airworthy 380 will be in service in October and their plan is LHR-SIN-SDY route.

Thanks for the answer.

I agree, those seats are showing their age. Hopefully they will get the A380's online and at that stage do a re-fit on the existing fleet. When they were new the seats in both Raffles and First were to some degree raising the industry benchmark. I can't imagine that they will allow themselves to fall too far behind the others, if they do, then they'll have an awful lot of aircraft that premium ticket buyers will think twice about getting on.
