Now for the 'mile-high iPods'

Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United have said that they will integrate iPods into their entertainment systems so that passengers can watch their own videos, stored on their iPods, on the seat-back screens.

It is being done by Apple and Panasonic Avionics and they expect other carriers to follow. The first iPod-ready seats are planned for mid-2007.

Whilst Air France, Continental, Delta and KLM are all in SkyTeam, Emirates and United are not, so it appears to be an alliance driven project but open to others too. This is the press release from Apple

That's great news! I hope they will have a battery-recharging system for iPods then, as I get so when mine runs out right in the middle of a long haul flight!!!
iPods have really bad batteries, they work fine for a few months then their life shortens all of a sudden, whether you use it lots or not!!

My guess is that the power points will only be in Club and First as usual and you would need an add-on battery pack to clip to the iPod. Unless 'security' won't let you take all those batteries through.
