KLM, Air France or Emirates economy?

I will likely be using one of these airlines for a round trip to JNB coming up.

Anyone got any comments good/bad about cattle class with either of these long haul?

I frequently use both for short haul around europe and have no problem with either, the food probably tends to be a bit better with AF.

I have long hauled with KLM a few times but not in the last 6 years and have no strong positive or negative memories either way.

Don't care much about Schiphol vs CDG either way.

Interested in your thoughts?

Sorry

Only used KL in economy, so can't compare.

It was okay.

Thanks F3G, now also considering Emirates as an option.

Got back last week from a trip to St Maarten with AF where my outbound flight was delayed leaving LHR due to snow in Paris and I missed my connection.

AF rebooked me on the next flight and provided a hotel room and meal vouchers without being asked. However the TV news that night showed the scene at Schiphol where KLM were making their passengers sleep on the floor.

Food was take it or leave it in economy, this may only be the case on leisure routes with no choice and no pre ordered special meals had been loaded.

Legroom on the A340 was certainly better than on Virgin.

Thanks SNS, now down to a choice of AF or Emirates, connection time with KLM is 65 mins, way too tight for a high chance of bags making it.

I haven't traveled via Air France but my parents have and they found CDG to be a very tiresome and inefficient airport in which to do be in transit and switch flights. You have to take a bus and literally walk to the bus (at least for some flights, perhaps not all).

On the other hand Schipol is absolutely gorgeous and very well organized for I've been there 3 times already.

Just thought you might want to know about the airport side of things...
