Question USA Overflights

It has been said that al Qaeda might use an international flight that overflies the US in a terrorist attack. Presumably, wherever this flight departs does not check passengers thoroughly such that the crew could be killed and the a/c commandeered.

I was just curious about how many scheduled flights overfly the US and from where to where?

Good question! Probably more cargo than pax flights, I might guess. If you do not get an answer here, try the forum: Airlines, Airports and Routes (something like that).

It might not be too difficult to commandeer and use an a/c originating from Central America or the Caribbean en route to say YYZ or YMX. Routing wouldn't be that far away from WAS or NYC. What's security like at those airports that cater mainly for leisure tfc?
