My friend George Cannon used to fly for Sepik Airways. He has passed away now. He had similar photos in PNG when they were shifting around amazing loads from dredges to cars and trucks, stuffed into the back of those Fokkers. Thanks for sharing.

Mammatus clouds are pouch-like cloud structures. They're also a rare example of clouds in sinking air-- most clouds form in rising air. Although mammatus most frequently form on the underside of a cumulonimbus, they can develop underneath cirrocumulus, altostratus, altocumulus and stratocumulus.

And, according to BOM, while they might look pretty dramatic and often appear around the same time as severe storms, mammatus clouds themselves are perfectly harmless. |
