Hi all,
I have a WOMBAT test coming up in SYD soon and am wondering if anybody has any advice/tips for it? TIA I have no idea if you can actually fail it or not. I wasn't told my score and didn't receive any feedback, just quietly moved on to the next step in the assessment process after a while. |
Thanks mate- what was the next step for you at that point in time? For me it will be a sim test but I've heard they've changed the process a bit
|
Any idea what the pass score is for this test? I did it a few days ago and got about halfway on the green bar.
Cheers |

Those who are interested in the cadetship, please be aware of the new cadet agreement being a 9 year commitment and 150k loan, 53k balloon payment at the end. Be aware that you will be under severe financial stress for the first few years.
|
And you will have to weed AAPA and scoop leaves out of the pool on your days off in Wagga Wagga. You'll be damaged mentally the first time you eff up, jumping at shadows the rest of your career.
Pull pin on Rex, the other cadetship. Move to somewhere nice like Cairns or Port Macquarie, do your licence, head north you could be in the back seat of a 787 at QF with less than 1,000 hours like quite a few have done in the past few years. |

The current published info from Rex at of 12 months ago is:
14. What is the cost of the Programme? The Programme fee is AUD $105,000. This is all inclusive of CASA charges, exam fees, theory, textbooks, Jeppesen Charts, flight and simulator training, uniforms as well as food and board. However there are additional charges for repeats of sorties due to failure to meet standards. The Cadet needs to be able to pay up front AUD $25,000 at the start of the Programme. 15. What are the loans available under the Programme? There is a scheme that allows the Cadet to finance the remaining Course fees (AUD $80,000). When the Cadet is accepted upon employment (Ground School Phase), an AUD $105,000 Cadet Loan will be offered. AUD $80,000 of the loan is the Programme fees payable to AAPA and the remaining AUD $25,000 of the loan will be placed with Rex as a Performance Bond. |

Just curious, where did you hear that? Can’t seem to find that info online anywhere.

Hi to anyone happening to view this,
I'm a keen Aviation follower, like everyone here. Applied to REX about 10 days, and have been checking emails for a reply. Wondering if anyone who has applied recently can share their thoughts about the application? Would be nice to catch up with them. |
@murfdogga
(Had to reply through here, it said the private messages had exceeded limit).
Appreciate the reply, man. It would feel unfair to have got so far into the process without a reply. With me, I applied just now so I think I would slotted under the next intake. It’s good to hear that they’ve sped up the process. How was the simulator task for you? I have got zero flight hours so that’s something I would have to learn on the spot if faced with. Let me know how you tackled that. |

Hey,
I saw your message, but couldn’t reply to it because the forum didn’t allow. You must be feeling sad having not received a reply after getting so far. I think I applied in the July intake, so my application is probably in a different pile than yours. I would love to know more about the simulator test from you; I have no flying experience so it would something hard to do. Let me know how you tackled that and any other contents of it that you wanted to share. regards, heet |
The new price tag doesn't deter you?

REX
Anyone know from previous experience of REX calls you initially in the process? I got a call in the morning but i it’s not accepting a call back, so I was wondering if that could be REX.
|
Application for REX
Can anyone confirm my understanding about REX? Their early-year intake wraps up by August, so when they say application are now open for the next intake they won't be opening new applicants until all the follow through ones have been sorted?

Gday, looking for a few details working for REX if anyone is willing to answer.
Flight hours per month? Average pay for an FO? How long the training process is running atm? Thanks in advance! |

(dollar value - probably $45K once they take the training fees out that you are paying back) 3. Supposed to be about a year and a bit but things often run way over due to staffing. They often have instructors leave because they treat them like sh*t. I have heard from a few instructor applicants who spent a fair bit of money to travel and attend interviews for AAPA. They were never even told they were unsuccessful, no "Dear John" email, nothing. Pathetic organisation and this runs from the ground up. If you are 'lucky' enough to get in, grow a thick skin and keep your head down. You will be working for not much pay but I guess a Saab 340 isn't a bad machine to fly for $45K vs a C210 for even less pay... 4. Sorry for the late reply but you're welcome! |
