most of the ones i looked at were for the bigger pastoral companies

Left 270 4th Nov 2014 06:11

I have wet experience, not 800 TT though.

Vinnies hired only weeks before going under, so you never know, Skytrans might be hiring

Left 270 4th Nov 2014 06:27

Only one person confused here and it surely ain't me, yep wet season as in NT, not sure if that's tropical enough. Also never even been to NZ let alone come from there. And call any Aussie a kiwi and I'm sure you will offend ;)

deadcut 4th Nov 2014 07:00

Well then there is only one way to find out. Call them.

Also don't think Skytrans will be hiring since they have lost a lot of work to Rex.

the_rookie 4th Nov 2014 07:14

How did you look hillbillyJ?

hillbillybob 4th Nov 2014 11:49

a lot of the big pastoral companies have recruitment websites

Zombie Pilot 4th Nov 2014 12:14

iPahlot, so the other companies you didn't comment on are a go for newbies i take it.

Speedbird0390 13th Mar 2015 16:57

May be a stupid question, but I have never seen any station jobs going. Where are they being advertised?

hillbillybob 14th Mar 2015 03:33

Jumbuck Pastoral - Outback Station Work Outback Australia - Job Applications

Cattle Station Jobs

the 2nd one was the one I used as a starting point last season

Pastoral flying

"Applicants for pilot employment must have an Australian Commercial Pilot's licence (aeroplane) and a minimum of 300 hours total time and 100 command hours".

This is what S. Kidman & Co sent me..

iPahlot 17th Jul 2015 09:43

Just curious, there's been a bit of movement of late. Who's still based in Kunners, Broome and Darwin that hasn't landed a gig yet?

Left 270 17th Jul 2015 10:51

I don't think too much of it has filtered down the line yet, still a case of watch this space for a little bit I think.

pilotchute 17th Jul 2015 10:53

What movement? As left 270 said. Until the bigger boys start hiring nobody is going anywhere. I know guys with Kingair/PA31/402 time etc who can't get an interview.

As for station flying what is advertised are mins. You can bet that guys with a lot more hours apply. People who can ride hoarses or motorbikes and maybe have livestock experience will also have a distinct advantage over you as well.

iPahlot 17th Jul 2015 22:12

Not sure about all of the above mentioned locations, but where I am based the movement has been quite noticeable.

If anyone is still around with more than bare minimum hours (and is actually based up north!) feel free to PM me.

Left 270 17th Jul 2015 23:31

There are allot of boys with interviews but as of this min, nothing solid. I do expect that to change in the next 6-8 weeks and think things will change and fast. iPahlot, if my guess of where you are is correct (where i'm not), i also know of a fair amount of movement.

wishiwasupthere 18th Jul 2015 00:59

Agree with Left 270, I'm seeing a bit of movement amongst the upper end of a GA. I know of quite a few experienced multi pilots who have moved onto bigger and better. Not a flood but certainly more than the trickle of the last 18-24 months.

Care to tell?

Care to elaborate where these twin drivers have left from? Need a job, have over 200 command twin and cant even get a look in anywhere.

deadcut 20th Jul 2015 10:01

Beech,
Cathay has taken a fair few but not only twin drivers. I know guys that got in with 300 hours as well as a few Qlink/Skippers pilots who have left. There is another round of hiring that is going on this month so there should be some spots freeing up.

Saying that, I know current twin drivers who are in the same position as they were two years ago and now sitting with well over 1000 multi PIC. I would imagine this round of Qlink hiring would have been VERY competitive.
