Try the Manager Of Line Operations, [email protected]. I think they have just hired 5 or 6 new F/O's but things are so busy in PNG right now there always seems to be movement.

Anybody willing to share some up to date info regarding the dash 8 f/o's position?

Far Canel 13th Feb 2017 07:33

Any news with Air PNG. Are they looking? Just wondering in 1340 140 multi IPC is enough to shoot something off or jump on a plane and find out:ok:

Cravenmorehead 13th Feb 2017 09:41

I wouldn't waste my money flying to Moresby to see them. They have an office in North Cairns. I think some of their HR is run out of there. Go see them there and hassle the Cairns operators like Skytrans and Hinterland while you are there.
Might want to send a resume to Tropic Air in Moresby. They are a good company well run and have some decent aircraft Caravans B200s and a twotter.

Remember to change your cover letter as they are now known as PNGAir.

Far Canel 20th Feb 2017 05:12

Thanks for that geeup, that would be a great start to application.
Have not heard too much about PNGAir lately or whether they need crew. Not sure whether the Cairns office is still going?
All I here about is the Parliament House in POM is on a generator because they owe a lot in electricity bills:}

Far Canel 22nd Mar 2017 03:29

Sent and application. I guess that is very competitive at PNG Air at the moment. I seem to hear very good things about management and general day to day flying there. I have been warned that PNG is not for everyone several times, still sounds like and adventure to me. :ok:

After their ad on AFAP a few months ago, just wondering if there is any activity regarding pilot recruitment?
Thanks in advance

lo_lyf 17th Jul 2017 05:56

As far as I'm aware they have not sent out one response to that advert. Rumour has it they can't secure any type rating slots for the ATR at the moment and that they will contact people for interviews as soon as they do.

Far Canel 17th Jul 2017 06:11

Thanks for that. They have 10-12 dash 8's that I think. They were advertising for both fleets so guessing they are sorting that first.

Hi Cessna95,

Just out of curiosity have you heard back from them after recently applying?

Kind regards,

Any details or link to terms and conditions for Atr DEC at PNG Air? Apply direct or through broker?

Thanks!

Hi everybody!

I've applied couple of months ago but I never heard back. I was wondering
if anybody that applied recently has got a reply from them or if it's still on.

geeup 6th Mar 2018 03:10

This won’t help but time doesn’t mean much in the South Pacific.

I can assure you they are horribly short of pilots.

Killer Loop 6th Mar 2018 08:26

HR are probably overwhelmed processing the hoards stampeding in the opposite direction to you Cessna95.

As Geeup says, don't worry.....once HR get on top of the mass exodus I'm sure they will be knocking down your door (and anybody else who's up for a punt) and giving you a start date last week.

geeup 15th Mar 2018 22:37

Things won't be moving forward in PNG for the next.. say... 50 years.. however;

PNGAir, Air Niugini, Hevilift & TropicAir will be in a constant state of recruitment due to high turn over.

Even once a candidate (contender / victim) signs a contract the process is painfully slow due, visa, work permit, lack of training captains followed by over worked checking departments. A real test of patience and endurance.

In saying all that the wheel does turn in PNG :}

Bribery and corruption is a way of life.

cessna95 have you followed up with HR? There must be a dash8 ground school coming up.

ResumeOwnNav 17th Mar 2018 23:18

Some mates still up there are telling me they are short of training capacity with a number of Training Captain's having recently resigned including their Training Manager. They're not sure who's looking after recruitment since he left.

If it is HR, I expect the process to be extremely slow.

Cravenmorehead 18th Mar 2018 19:23

Yep they lost something like 7 experienced ATR pilots recently, probably more. The pilot shortage will be hurting operators like this.
Mostly though it will be hurting PNG as it has no money, corruption is rampant and recently had a major earthquake that has closed the LNG plant, and a major gold mine in Pulgera, all simply meaning less revenue. The perfect storm, really, unfortunately.
This shortage means PNG Air won’t be able to take advantage of the chaos in Air Niugini, has less money to fund its expansion and no crew, bummer.
It is a shame as they had really been making headway in its aim of being a credible second airline, after the years of disaster.
That’s PNG for you I guess.

The problems at PNG run right to the top. It’s all about corruption and backhands. Maybe a bit of “advance tipping” makes things move. But this is different, it permeates all aspects of the society with those at the top blatantly getting “fat and Shiney” as they stand in line for the kickbacks and royalties that miraculously grease their palms from overseas corporations who are obviously turning a small profit in such a “rich country “. Those at the bottom all see it and know they are getting shafted, but many won’t dare to question the “big boss man”.
Corruption Utopia for everyone.
You could either see it that you are helping an underdeveloped nation’s aviation (which in some respects you are) or you are just there to gather some experience, earn a few bucks and get out. Either way, it wont make any difference to PNG as they will continue to rob their own country dry . Fatter and Shinier...

It is an absolute adventure and the flying is second to none ... that’s it.
