It has been suggested that Baucau could have been another Bali if circumstances had been different
If it was populated by Balinese?

Capt Fathom 4th Sep 2008 03:20

Nivo, I was guessing South Africa or India.

But the aircraft rego gave it away!

Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Throwing darts here.... the first one could be Morogoro.

Jabawocky 4th Sep 2008 04:11

HN

Tanzania is a long way to take ya Cessna mate.

You do get around the traps!

J

Nivo 4th Sep 2008 06:55

Well done CF

No. 2 is indeed Dar es Salaam. No.1 is Mbeya and aircraft was photograhed at Sumbawanga.

Very interesting country to fly around, and it amazing just how much runway even a lightly loaded C210 needs at 30 degrees and 6500ft elevation!

Jaba - I might go a long way in a Cessna, but even I draw the line at Tanzania! We are just back from YNCW which was 26.5hrs round trip.

cheers,

Nivo

Jabawocky 4th Sep 2008 07:19

YNCW

Long way to go to sell some sheep!

Gotta be cattle involved then!

J

Nivo 5th Sep 2008 23:51

Jaba,

Not selling, just buying (XXXX and rum) and catching up with mates at Spellbore campdraft!!

cheers,

Nivo

Bonanzas

A long time ago I flew bonanzas for about two years, so I can understand peoples enthusiasm for the type.

Some years ago the controller at osksh said "bonanza formation clear to land", and 150 bonanzas landed.

i reckon some on here would have had an orgasm if they had seen that.

Chimbu chuckles 8th Sep 2008 09:27

Watch 150 Drs land in formation?

I'd be finding a deep hole to hide in.:E

Ex FSO GRIFFO 10th Sep 2008 03:23

'Bonzas' can do almost anything??

I hope this works.... a 'You Tube' link....

Jabawocky 10th Sep 2008 05:28

Great Vid Griffo :D

So did you get into trouble for doing that?

J:ok:

Ex FSO GRIFFO 10th Sep 2008 08:20

G'Day 'Jab',

Nah! Just selected both port and stbd thronomisters to FULL PWR, and made like a mob of seagulls..............got the flock outa there...........:}:}

The power shut off at FL200 so we just glided back home - you know wot these 'Bonzas' are.......

Sacre Bleu!!

B-707

Hey, that photo of the 707 reminded me of a question that has bugged me for YEARS....

Does anyone know why three of the four engines have little ducts on top, but one of them (I think its No 1 engine) doesn't????

Peter Fanelli 16th Sep 2008 10:47

The engines with the little ducts at the top are fitted with turbo compressors for cabin pressurization.

It can vary somewhat, I think you could choose from having 2, 3 or 4 on the aircraft.

One with 4

One with 3

One with 2

I understand that the three I picked out are all different series but I believe if you search further you will find variations with in the -100/-300/-400 subgroups.

Just trying to figure out how to submit photos. IF this works I may be able to join in.

Peter Fanelli 16th Sep 2008 12:06

Pretty sloppy track and altitude keeping if you ask me. Ten feet low good enough for you is it? :E

Check out the Alt if you can. Big hills over there.

Grogmonster 16th Sep 2008 12:14

Is your name Mr RVSM? I say good enough for a Cessna auto pilot in reasonably rough conditions. Certainly better than I could do.

Jamair 16th Sep 2008 15:19

Yair, Grog, you got the idea, but make em 'web' size 320x240 instead of 'email' size 640x480 and they fit the page width a little better.:ok:

XRNZAF 16th Sep 2008 20:27

Interesting, thanks Mr Fanelli....

Ovation 16th Sep 2008 23:04

Any guesses as to where (in WA)?

Dave Incognito 16th Sep 2008 23:34

Background looks like El Questro, but there doesn’t seem to be enough scrub around the runway.
