Greaser, :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
You need a better camera then. One that doesn't show the curvature of the earth at 10,000ft.

j3pipercub 9th Oct 2012 17:55

Please refrain from willy waving in this area... Ex, you're hanging on too tight, I think the sun has got to you...

Percival Prince?

Trent 972 9th Oct 2012 22:11

Percival Pembroke. (with 1 rider attached)
It could be a 'President' or as dave says a 'Prince', but those engines look like as fitted to the 'Pembroke'
:uhoh: Although in those colours, I wouldn't be surprised if it is 1 of the 2 'Survey Prince's' operated by the Thai Armed Forces. :uhoh:

Wanderin_dave 9th Oct 2012 22:38

Trent, I reckon you're right with 'Pembroke', a quick google brought up the Wiki list of survivors for the Prince and they're all in museums.

A380 lights on??

A thing called sops- landing lights on in EK at 10000 ft agl. I'm sure even Qf has them. You know sops?
10,000ft AGL? What, were they flying over Mt Everest at the time?? :E

L0u0k0e 10th Oct 2012 02:00

Roulettes up north a couple of months ago. Lens wasn't quite long enough for this shot, so had to crop quite heavily.

Those Raafy types are a bunch of throttle bashers, looks like he's blown the oil rings on all eight cylinders. Those PC9's would have to have a V8 in them the way they go.

john_tullamarine 10th Oct 2012 04:11

Lovely shot .. even if the pilot is at risk of suffering hypoxia.

Fantome 10th Oct 2012 04:12

allthecoolnamesarego 10th Oct 2012 06:42

Of course it is tongue in cheek, every one knows those PC9's are fitted with V12's. Jeez, some people know nothing!

Also stopped in at Temora, very cool place; may have to retire there I think.

At least i got the manufacturer right on the Se-Prince pic................missed the rest lol

Trojan1981 16th Oct 2012 00:09

Love the Firefly, but hate to see it out in the weather. Bring it inside!

It's time most of these pole-dwellers were replaced with fiberglass replicas.

Ex FSO GRIFFO 16th Oct 2012 10:28

Amen to that Mr 'T',

I remember the days, but alas, not the actual date, - mid sixties - it came in from Nowra(?)....Schofields(?)... To Rex Av at BK, where it sat for a while, then took off, flew to Griffith, where they drained out the oils and fuel, and put it up on that pole...where it has sat ever since I guess.

A similar fate to the Spitfire that sat in 'The Terrace' Perth, until it WAS removed, sent to NZ, had moulds made, and now the 'real thing' resides inside the Bull Creek Museum, whilst the fiberglass replica sits on the pole outside...

Decorated in the colors of 451 'Bankstown to Berlin' squadron, which oddly enough had no affiliation with WA....
Except that the Boxing Kangaroo emblem was later used by Alan Bond's yacht race team......
However, it's all good....
:ok:

Trojan1981 17th Oct 2012 02:01

Geez Griffo, the thought of that makes me wince.

So I take it that it is largely complete? The Perth Spitfire is a perfect example.
There is a company in the UK that makes them from scratch too.:ok:

TriMedGroup 17th Oct 2012 23:12

where it has sat ever since I guess
Not so Griffo - ADF Serials - RAN N1 Fairey Firefly

Jamair 18th Oct 2012 01:55

I recall something fro the UK where various 'gate-guard' Spitfires etc were systematically removed, replaced with fibreglass replicas and restored for display or flight.

Re Gannetts, I think I have some pix of one from Caloundra, buried in the photo box somewhere.

So this is actually Mickey Mouse! You learn something every day!

I still wish it was a replica up there, but it's a good news story for the original Griffith Firefly.

Never fly a warbird for an American.

American competition for the Thermomix. :p

On another subject, this should drive the Chemtrails fanatics crazy. A nice clean chemtrail in dirty horrible filthy grey sky.
